Professor Dr. Md. Abu Ashraf Khan was born in 1963 in the district of Tangail, Bangladesh. He obtained B. Sc. Ag (Hons.) and M. Sc. (Ag) in Plant Pathology from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh in 1986 and 1987, respectively and securing first class with distinction in both the examination. He got PhD in Plant Pathology from Kyushu University, Japan in 2000. He conducted Post-Doctoral research under JASSO fellowship in Japan in 2005. He received training on laboratory management under DANIDA fellowship in Denmark in 2005. His teaching and research interest on Seed Pathology and Plant Bacteriology. Detection, identification, characterization, epidemiology and control of seed-borne bacteria and fungi are the major area of his research.
Dr. Ashraf has experiences of 36 years 4 months of teaching and research of which 30 years 9 month as Teaching and 5 years 7 months as Research. He served the university by holding various positions such as Dean, Graduate studies; Head, Department of Plant Pathology, Pathobiology, Agro-Processing; Co-Ordinator of Seed Science and Technology Unit; Proctor and Assistant Provost. And also serving the university as Chairman and member of different Committees.

Publication: Published 98 (Scopus indexed 20, Peer Reviewed 78) Scientific articles in National and International reputed journals.
FAO Expert: Served as a member (Expert) of Facts finding mission of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Wheat Blast Disease in the Southwestern Districts of Bangladesh in 2016.
Examiner of MS and PhD: Serving as MS and PhD examiner at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Sher-E-Bagla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka, Haji Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, National University, Gazipur.

Member of Professional Society: Dr. Ashraf is a Life member of Bangladesh Phytopathological Society, Bangladesh Genetics & Plant Breeding Society, Bangladesh Association for Advancement of Science and Krishibid Institutions of Bangladesh.
