He has completed his B Sc Ag (Hons) and M Sc (Ag) in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh 2202 in 1983 and 1984, respectively. He completed his Ph. D on Vegetable Breeding from Kyushu University, Japan in 2003 funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Rasul started his professional career as an Agricultural Extension Officer under Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of Government of Bangladesh (BCS, Agriculture Cadre) in April 1987. Afterwards he joined as a Scientific Officer at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) in August 1987 and worked on Tuber Crops improvement and Breeders seed production for 8 (eight) years. Later he joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in July 1995 and subsequently has been promoted to Associate Professor in May 2004 and Professor in August 2008 and Grade 1 in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Rasul has been offering courses at BS, MS and PhD levels (Principles of Plant Breeding, Biometrical and Quantitative Genetics, Molecular Genetics and Plant Biotechnology) and supervising MS and Ph.D Students. <strong>As a Major Professor of the Advisory Committee, he already supervised and offered degrees to 9 (nine) PhD and 60 (sixty) MS students. He also served as a member of advisory committee\/ co supervisor of 28 Ph.D and 84 MS students.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Rasul has been completed several research programs\/ projects as a Principal and Co-principal Investigator utilizing the fund of BAS, USDA, UGC, MoE, BANBEIS, RMC of BSMRAU etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Rasul is keen to conduct research on vegetable, oilseeds and cereals improvement using both conventional and molecular approaches particularly marker assisted selection, breeding for tolerance to abiotic stresses particularly salinity tolerance etc. An early bulking potato variety named, <strong>Heera (1995) <\/strong>and a country bean variety named as <strong>BU Sheem-7<\/strong> (a high yielding with high anthocyanine content, aphid and saline tolerant variety) has been released recently (March 2021) under his leadership. He has published 177 research articles in different renowned national and international journals <\/span><span style=\"color: #800080\">(<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">Plants, Agronomy, Genetika, Plant Breeding, Scientia Horticulture, Euphytica, Journal of Crop Improvement, Canadian Journal of Agricultural Science, American Journal of Plant Biology and Research, International Journal of Molecular Science, Horticulturae<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000\">etc<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">.). He is an author of a translated book <strong>Hybrid Dhan Utpadon Projukti<\/strong> published by FAO and co-author of Molecular Characterization and Genetic Variation in Rice published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Rasul is involved with different professional and social societies having life membership of Plant Breeding and Genetics Society of Bangladesh (PBGSB), Bangladesh Society for Horticultural Sciences (BSHS), Bangladesh Potato Association (BPA), Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Sciences (BAAS), Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (01-83-3311),\u00a0 Bangladesh Entomological Society ( LM No. 90), Bangladesh Phytopathological Society, Japanese University Alumni Association of Bangladesh (JUAAB), Bangladesh JSPS Alumni Association (BJAA), Uttara Krishibid Association, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is the Executive Editor of Bangladesh Journal of Plant Breeding and Genetics of PBGSB and member of Editorial Board of Annals of Bangladesh Agriculture, BSMRAU.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">He has been served the University in various capacities which included Syndicate member, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Departmental Head of Genetics and Plant Breeding, and Anatomy and Histology, Academic Council members, Member of Planning Committee, Students Disciplinary Committee,\u00a0Hall Provost etc. successfully. He visited India, Pakistan, Japan, Canada, USA, KSA etc for various purposes like education, research, conferences\/ seminars, workshop, pilgrims etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Recently Dr. Rasul has completed a two years term during 2019-21 as a Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, BSMRAU and compiled and edited the <strong>Curriculum for Outcome Based Education (OBE)<\/strong> hand book of BS Agriculture program under his leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Honesty, sincerity, simplicity and timeliness are the basics of Dr Rasul\u2019s life. He lives very simple life with honesty and integrity. He love his country and feel proud as a Bangladeshi. He dreams to build a happy, prosperous, harmonius, corruption and violance free, technology- driven developed Bangladesh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">In addition to his normal duty, at present, he is serving as <strong>Director (Planning &amp; Development) <\/strong>of <strong>GAU<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">He is blessed with a daughter, Nusrat Nafiz Khan.
