Dr. Monira Parvin Moon is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as an Associate Professor (Since March 25, 2026) and Head (since April 1, 2026) in the Department of Rural Development at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), Bangladesh. With a strong academic background and extensive research experience, Dr. Monira Parvin Moon’s research interests span across rural development, food security, climate change, gender studies, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability and mental health. Her research is particularly focused on understanding the multidimensional impacts of climate change on agriculture, water, and health systems, as well as the gender-differentiated vulnerabilities and adaptive capacities in rural communities. She completed her PhD in Agricultural Economics from Nagoya University, Japan (2025) under the prestigious MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship. Prior to that, she achieved outstanding academic results, securing 1st Class First in her MSc in Rural Sociology (2016) from Bangladesh Agricultural University with a CGPA of 3.919, and completed her BSc in Agricultural Economics with excellent results (2015). Dr. Moon has steadily progressed in her academic career, beginning as a Lecturer in 2017, promoted to Assistant Professor in 2020, and currently serving as an Associate Professor since March 2025 at GAU. Her teaching and research focus on rural development, gender empowerment, climate change impacts, food security, and sustainable agricultural practices. She is an accomplished researcher with a strong publication record in internationally recognized journals. Her research addresses critical global and national challenges such as climate change, water and food security, women’s empowerment, and agricultural productivity. Dr. Moon’s excellence has been recognized through numerous prestigious awards, including the Best Oral Presentation Award (GAU International Conference 2025), GAU-TA Research Award 2024, and the Kitan-kai Research Encouragement Award from Nagoya University. She has also received multiple National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowships, highlighting her strong research capability and leadership.
