Research Foci: Physiological, Biochemical and Molecular Mechanism of Stress Tolerance in Plants; Development of drought tolerant, short duration rice variety. Development of salt tolerant wheat variety; Development of different pulse crop against abiotic stress.

 

Life Sketch

Dr. Md. Moshiul Islam is a Professor of the Department of Agronomy of Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), Gazipur. He was born on 02 October 1979 in the village of Aqua, sadar upazila of Mymensingh district, Bangladesh. Md. Moshiul Islam went to Okayama University, Japan in 2011 with Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship, where he obtained his Ph D (2014) in Bioscience in the Laboratory of Biofunctional Chemistry. He was invited as a visiting scholar to perform collaborative research on “Plant hormone signaling in guard cells” in Okayama University, Japan in 2016. Dr. Islam did JSPS Post-doc in Okayama University, Japan (2023-2024). He worked as a visiting professor in Okayama University, Japan (2024). He passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in 1994 from Mymensingh Zila School, Mymensingh; and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in 1996 from Government Ananda Mohan Collage, Mymensingh. He secured 1st division with star mark in both the examination. He obtained B Sc Ag (Hon) and M S in Agronomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in 2003 and 2004 respectively. He secured First Class in B Sc Ag and First Class First position in the in order of merit in M S. He joined Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) as a Lecturer in 2006 and became an Assistant Professor in 2008, Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in 2018 to date. Dr. Islam is a life member of Bangladesh Agronomy Society (BAS), Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS), Genetics and Plant Breeding Society of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Society of Seed Technology, Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh etc.
