\nA.Q.M. Robiul Kawser is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Nottingham, UK, focusing on the study of bacterial diversity, antimicrobial-resistant genes, microplastics, and elemental composition in Hilsa fish and their habitats. He completed his Master of Science in Aquaculture from Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) in Bangladesh securing the first position in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. His thesis explored the growth response, feed utilization, and nutrient retention in monosex Tilapia fed with floating and sinking pellets in a recirculating aquaponic system. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Science from GAU, graduating with a CGPA of 4.00 and securing the first position in the Faculty of Fisheries.<\/p>\n
\nMr. Kawser’s research focuses on several key areas, including Microbiology, Antimicrobial Resistance, Fish Health, Sustainable Aquaculture, Microplastics, and Aquatic Pollution.<\/p>\n
\nRobiul Kawser is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aquaculture at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), a position he has held since March 2017. Prior to this, he served as a Lecturer in the same department from February 2015 to March 2017. Additionally, he has been working as a Demonstrator at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, University of Nottingham, since October 2023, where he assists with teaching microbiology and veterinary public health courses.<\/p>\n
\nRobiul Kawser possesses a range of laboratory skills, including the isolation and identification of bacteria, genomic DNA extraction, DNA cloning, real-time PCR for antimicrobial resistance genes, metagenome library preparation for Nanopore sequencing, microplastics analysis using fluorescence microscopy, water quality parameter analysis, and proximate composition analysis in muscle samples. He is also proficient in cell and microalgae culture and adheres to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). His data analysis skills include proficiency in software such as GraphPad Prism, RStudio, Sequencher, and Geneious.<\/p>\n
\nMr. Kawser has received several prestigious awards and scholarships. He was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue his PhD at the University of Nottingham. He also received the Prime Minister Gold Medal for securing the first position in the Faculty of Fisheries at GAU. Additionally, he was awarded the NST Scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh and the University Merit Scholarship for both his Master’s and Bachelor’s studies. He also received a scholarship for a project titled “High Density Live Food Culture” from GAU.<\/p>\n
\nMr. Kawser is a member of several professional organizations, including the Microbiology Society in the UK, the Association for Veterinary Teaching and Research Work in the UK, the Commonwealth Scholars Alumni Association in the UK, the Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science Society, and the Faculty of Fisheries Alumni Association at GAU.<\/p>\n
