GAU Holds Orientation for Autumn 2025 Graduate Students

An inspiring orientation program for newly admitted MS and PhD students of the Autumn 2025 session was held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) on Sunday, November 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the university’s old auditorium. The event welcomed 66 MS and 10 PhD students from 13 renowned universities across the country, including Bangladesh Agricultural University, University of Rajshahi, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh Maritime University, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Jashore University of Science and Technology, and Patuakhali Science and Technology University, among others. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan, Director (Student Welfare). Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque and Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad attended as special guests. In his welcome remarks, Registrar Md. Abdullah Mridha introduced the university’s academic traditions and research prospects, followed by an engaging introduction session among the participants. The newcomers shared their aspirations to contribute to national agricultural development through dedicated research and innovation. Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, Proctor, provided guidance on discipline, responsibility and ethical values, while Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazmol Hasan, Provost of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Hall, briefed the students on residential and administrative regulations. Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin Miah, outlined the structure and policies of higher studies and research. In his keynote address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Rahman congratulated the new researchers for joining the country’s top-ranked agricultural university. He emphasized, “True education is not only about learning, it is the cultivation of character, intellect and humanity. A real researcher is one whose work brings meaningful change to society.” The event concluded with an interactive session between guests and students, followed by a campus tour of faculties, laboratories and research facilities. The orientation reflected a vibrant blend of academic excellence and moral commitment marking the beginning of a collective journey toward advancing sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh.
