Background of the Seminar Course<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Seminar course was introduced in this university (BSMRAU former IPSA) in 1991 when North American course curriculum (course credit system) was established. In North American system, the term “seminar” refers to a course of intense study relating to the student’s major. Seminar class deals with seminar papers, presentations and exams. It is a requirement for the graduation from this university. Seminar classes are reserved for MS and Ph D students. Seminars typically have fewer students per professor than normal courses, and are generally more specific in topic of study. It is an interdisciplinary\u00a0course\u00a0led by instructors from a variety of disciplines who explore profound and interesting ideas, often in areas outside of their interest. Professors provide clear guidelines about how students select topic for seminar, prepare a seminar paper, power point presentation and how to present seminar paper. The idea behind the seminar course is to familiarize students more extensively with the\u00a0methodology\u00a0of their chosen subject and also to allow them to interact with examples of the practical problems that always occur during research work.<\/p>\n

Goals of the Seminar Course<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

  1. Student is able to analyze and synthesize information and ideas from multiple sources to generate new insights in his\/her seminar manuscript.<\/li>\n
  2. Student is able to prepare power point presentation.<\/li>\n
  3. Student is able to present seminar paper in standard written English, to a general audience.<\/li>\n
  4. Student is able to communicate complex ideas effectively to the audience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
