Prof. Dr. Rahman, is an accomplished academic and one of Bangladesh’s leading voices in pesticide toxicology and environmental risk assessment. He currently serves in the Department of Entomology and is an affiliated member of the Institute of Food Safety and Processing (IFSP) at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU). Dr. Rahman obtained his B.Sc. (Ag.) with first-class (8th merit position) and completed his M.S. in Entomology with first-class first distinction from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. He obtained his PhD in Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology from GAU with distinction marks (over 90%) and a GPA of 4.0 out of 4.0. He was honored with the Best Thesis Award (PhD) from the Bangladesh Entomological Society in 2017.

Dr. Rahman leads innovative and mission-driven research in the Laboratory of Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology, where his work is firmly anchored in ensuring food safety and safeguarding public health. With exceptional expertise in modern chromatographic and spectrometric techniques—including GC-ECD, GC-FID, GC-MS, and HPLC—he has developed and validated 20 robust analytical protocols. These protocols have significantly strengthened national capacity for accurate pesticide residue detection, monitoring, and regulatory compliance.

An inspiring mentor and academic leader, Dr. Rahman has supervised 54 M.S. students to successful completion, with 10 additional researchers currently working under his guidance. Most of his mentees specialize in pesticide toxicology and food safety, forming a strong cohort of skilled residue analysts and young scientists who now contribute to research institutions, regulatory bodies, and higher education across Bangladesh.

Dr. Rahman has also demonstrated outstanding leadership in research management by successfully leading and completing numerous competitive projects funded by UGC, NATP, KGF, and MOST. With over 15 years of specialized professional experience, his current research focuses on the detection, quantification, and health risk assessment of pesticide residues, as well as the development of innovative and practical residue removal techniques from vegetables, fruits, fisheries, dairy, and poultry products. These efforts directly support safer food systems and improved public health outcomes.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Rahman has published extensively in reputable international journals, including Food and Nutrition Sciences, International Journal of Current Advanced Research, Indian Journal of Ecology, Acta Scientifica, Malaysian Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, and several Sage journals. His active engagement in international conferences, workshops, and advanced training programs has enriched his scientific outlook and strengthened global research collaborations.

Through his sustained contributions in research, supervision, capacity building, and scientific publications, Dr. Habibur Rahman stands as one of Bangladesh’s leading experts in pesticide toxicology, food safety, and environmental risk assessment, committed to promoting safer food systems and a healthier environment.
