Professor Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun

Department of Agronomy

Professor Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun was born on 12 November, 1982 in the village of Makna, Madan upazila of Netrakona district, Bangladesh. He passed the Secondary School Certificate examination in 1998 securing 1st Division from the Hazi Momtaz Uddin High School, Kishoreganj; and the Higher Secondary Certificate examination of 2000 also securing 1st Division from the Government Gurudayal College, Kishoreganj. He obtained Bachelor Science in Agriculture (B.Sc.Ag.) and Master of Science (MS) in Agronomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He obtained first class both in B.Sc.Ag. and MS program. Dr. Mamun started his service in 2007 as a Scientific Officer in the Agronomy Division of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), Gazipur. He promoted as a Senior Scientific Officer in the same Division in 2012. He was awarded a scholarship by International Rice Research Institute through “Cereal System Initiative for South Asia” project executed by BRRI, Gazipur in 2013 for PhD. He achieved his PhD in Agronomy from Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) in 2017. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agronomy in GAU, Gazipur in 2014. Dr. Mamun promoted as an Associate Professor and Professor in the same Department of GAU in 2018 and 2023, respectively. He received GAU Research Award, 2022 for his outstanding research performance in 2022. He published more than seventy research articles in national international journals. He attended various national international training courses in home and abroad. He has a good communicative skill both in Bangla and English. Dr. Mamun is a member of Bangladesh Agronomy Society, Weed Science Society of Bangladesh, The Ecological Society of Bangladesh and Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh etc.
