Apple Mahmud have been serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Agronomy at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), Gazipur 1706, since March 15, 2023. He previously worked as a Scientific Officer at the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (July 2021 – December 2022) and as an Agriculture Extension Officer (40th BCS) in the Department of Agriculture, Government of Bangladesh from December 2022 to March 2023. He completed Bachelor of Science (BS) in 2017 and Master of Science (MS) in 2020, both from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University. He has taught undergraduate courses including Seed Science and Technology, Agroclimatology, and Fundamentals of Agronomy. Alongside teaching, his research focuses on Agronomy with specialization in plant abiotic stress (drought, salinity, heavy metals), seed science and crop improvement. He is also passionate about promoting agricultural sustainability through studies on genotype × environment interactions, stability analysis, stress physiology, molecular stress biology, and modern agronomic practices. He has published 21 research papers and book chapters in reputed journals and currently lead several projects on plant abiotic stress, with a focus on heavy metal toxicity and waterlogging.
Areas of Specialization: Agronomic management practices, plant abiotic stress tolerance (drought, salinity, heavy metals), seed science and crop improvement
Research interest: Stress physiology, Molecular stress biology, modern agronomic practices. stability analysis of crop genotypes and genotypes × environment interactions.
