It is with immense pride and joy that I extend my warmest greetings to all students, faculty members, staff, alumni, and distinguished guests of our esteemed university. The Faculty of Fisheries (FoF) was established in 2008 and commenced its four-year undergraduate program in the Summer of 2009. Since its inception, the faculty has been committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement in the field of fisheries science.
The faculty offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Fisheries through its five academic departments. Over the years, the Faculty of Fisheries has played a pioneering role in advancing fisheries education, research, and development in Bangladesh. Our mission is to produce competent graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values required to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable management and development of the country’s
aquatic resources.
The fisheries sector in Bangladesh has emerged as a pillar of economic growth, food security, and livelihood generation. Its transformation from traditional subsistence practices to a dynamic and commercially significant industry reflects the dedication and hard work of our fishermen, researchers, and professionals. The sector continues to play a crucial role in the national economy, providing employment to millions and ensuring nutritional security for the population. Bangladesh’s consistent position among the top fish-producing nations globally underscores the sector’s immense potential and contribution to sustainable development.
To support the continued growth of this vital industry, the Faculty of Fisheries actively engages in research, innovation, and extension activities. Our faculty members are dedicated to addressing emerging challenges in fisheries and aquaculture, including climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable resource management.
