International Partnership

  1. Counterpart Scientist – JIRCAS Pest and Disease Control Project
I served as the Counterpart Scientist in a Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS)-supported research project titled “Investigation of pathogenic variation of Asian soybean rust pathogen and development of resistant soybean varieties in Bangladesh.”

    • Phase I: Implemented from 2015 to 2018.
    • Phase II: Continued from 2018 to 2021.
This project was a part of JIRCAS’s Pest and Disease Control Project, focusing on identifying pathogen variation and enhancing soybean resistance to Asian soybean rust.
  2. Focal Contact – JICA Grassroots Cooperation Project
I acted as the Focal Contact at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University for the JICA grassroots cooperation project titled “Support to establish a new society of BOP farmers by using the power of ICT” (January 2014–December 2016).

    • Collaborating Partners: Kyushu University, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Grameen Communications, and WIN Incorporate.
    • Objective: To develop and implement the “ICT-based Farming & Marketing Support Platform (iFarM)” aimed at building a farmer-focused society and connecting producers with consumers.
    • Key Outcomes: Branding vegetables, introducing product delivery mechanisms, and benefiting 600 farmer families across four districts.
  3. Deputy Sub-Project Manager -World Bank-funded HEQEP Project
    • “Establishment of Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic,” (2012–2015).
    • Key Deliverable: Establishing a state-of-the-art diagnostic clinic to identify and address plant diseases effectively, thereby supporting the agricultural sector in Bangladesh.
