DR. Md. Rashidul Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Science and Nutrition at Gazipur Agricultural University. He is an emerging researcher in the field of animal nutrition, with a strong focus on improving feed efficiency, digestive physiology, and sustainable livestock production systems.
Dr. Islam obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Gazipur Agricultural University (formerly Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, BSMRAU) in 2016. He subsequently completed his Master of Science (MS) in Animal Nutrition from the same institution in 2018. Prior to this, he completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in 2010 and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2008. His research work primarily centers on rumen function and feed utilization, particularly through in vitro rumen degradation techniques and rumen microbiology. Dr. Islam is actively engaged in exploring innovative nutritional strategies, including the use of herbal feed additives and probiotics, to enhance animal health and productivity. In addition, his work includes in vivo digestibility trials and the nutritional improvement of low-quality roughages, aiming to optimize the use of locally available feed resources. He also has expertise in diet formulation and animal feeding systems, contributing to practical solutions for livestock farmers. Beyond nutrition, Dr. Islam has research interests in reproductive physiology, particularly focusing on sperm quality and testicular histomorphology, linking nutrition with reproductive performance in animals.
Through his teaching and research, Dr. Islam is committed to advancing scientific knowledge, supporting sustainable livestock development, and training future professionals in animal science.
