Dr. Shaikh Shamim Hasan has specialization and interest in land use management through using different models, higher education quality assessment and different aspects of rural development related issues. Currently he is serving as Professor at the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development of the Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), Bangladesh. He received his Ph.D. (2017) from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China. Earlier he obtained his MS in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Bangladesh in 2004. Before that he bagged his B.Sc. Ag. (Honours) from the Agrotechnology Discipline of Khulna University, Bangladesh. His Ph.D. research theme was land use land cover change in rapidly urbanized Bangladesh. However, his research interest is multidisciplinary ranging: land resources management, modeling of land cover changes, higher education quality assessment, impact assessment of agricultural and rural development-related issues, sustainability, and program evaluation. Professor Dr. Hasan has an experience to work as Visiting Professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China (from December, 2023 to October, 2024) under the auspicious President International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) program.
