Dr. Md. A. Mannan is a distinguished Bangladeshi academic and researcher in the field of agronomy, currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, and a member of the Resource Pool at the Institute of Climate Change and Environment, Gazipur Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Born on December 1, 1968, in Fulbaria, Mymensingh, he has dedicated his career to advancing agricultural science, particularly in oilseed crop research.

Dr. Mannan is widely recognized as the first Ph.D. holder in soybean crop research in Bangladesh. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to crop improvement by developing six high-yielding soybean varieties, including stress-tolerant types suitable for salinity, waterlogging, and drought-prone environments. His academic journey also includes a postdoctoral degree from Shenyang Agricultural University, China, where he specialized in safe grain production.

With extensive experience in research and academia, Dr. Mannan has published a substantial body of scholarly work, including a monograph, several book chapters, and numerous research articles in reputed international journals. He has successfully led and collaborated on multidisciplinary research projects funded by national and international organizations. His professional engagements extend to editorial responsibilities, peer review activities, and active participation in various scientific societies.

Dr. Mannan’s research focuses on crop adaptation to environmental stresses, climate change impacts on agriculture, and sustainable management practices. His work aims to enhance crop productivity and resilience, ultimately improving the livelihoods of farming communities in Bangladesh and beyond.
