Dr. Debasish Chandra Acharjee serves as a Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in a research project titled “Understanding farmers’ incentives to adopt short-duration rice variety in flash flood-prone haor (freshwater wetland) ecosystem in Bangladesh,” funded by ICIMOD/SANDEE with a total grant of BDT 2,500,000 for the period 2023–2025. The project focuses on examining the economic, environmental, and behavioral factors that influence farmers’ decisions to adopt short-duration rice varieties in vulnerable haor regions, where flash floods pose significant risks to crop production. By analyzing adoption incentives, constraints, and impacts on farm income and food security, the study aims to generate evidence-based policy recommendations to enhance climate resilience, improve agricultural sustainability, and support livelihood security among smallholder farmers in Bangladesh.
