Biography

Soumitra Saha is dedicated to advancing the understanding of agricultural systems and their impacts on rural communities. His research broadly focuses on ecosystem services, and the effects of land use change and urbanization on them. Through his innovative research and the dissemination of knowledge, he strives to contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture, ensuring that his work benefits both the environment and rural livelihoods.

Mr. Saha has led and contributed to several significant research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Research Management Wing at GAU. His work aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical applications, making a tangible impact on both policy and practice.

In addition to his research, he is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of agricultural professionals. He actively engages with students, encouraging them to explore the complexities of agricultural systems and to develop sustainable and socially equitable solutions. He supervises master’s students and conducts extension education field trips, providing hands-on learning experiences that connect students with real-world agricultural challenges.

Mr. Saha holds an MS degree in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development and a BS degree in Agriculture, both from GAU. His scholarly contributions have been widely published in peer-reviewed journals, covering topics such as ecosystem services, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. Among his accolades, Soumitra has been nominated for the ‘Prime Minister Gold Medal 2019’ by the Bangladesh University Grants Commission, recognizing his outstanding academic achievements.
