  1. Professor Hossain is a renowned educationist: Annex I
    1. He produced 43 PhD students and 61 MS students under his direct supervision
    2. In addition, he is a member of the advisory committee of more than 30 PhD and 102 MS students of different department.
    3. Hossain offers courses in every semester (Term). He offers courses on Plant Tissue Culture, Principles of Vegetables Production, Vegetable Seed Technology, Postharvest Technology, Processing of Horticultural Crops and Organic Farming.
    4. He served as a Head of the Department of Horticulture for four terms (8 years).
    5. He also served as a Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture from 2007 to 2008.

 

  1. Professor Hossain is an outstanding researcher: Annex II
    1. He developed a total of 06 vegetables, 02 fruits and 01 spice varieties which are already adopted in the farmers’ field.
    2. His developed Jujube variety popularly known as Apple Kul (BU Kul-1) is widely adopted countrywide and enjoying almost sixteen crore people of the country due to its taste and economic profitability. Jujube growers can able to earn more than 10 lakh taka per annum per accre through cultivating the variety.
    3. In addition, he developed 02 new agricultural technologies (Grafting technologies of Jackfruit & Wood Apple), which are popularly practiced at farm level.

 

  1. Professor Hossain is a noble freedom fighter : Annex III
  2. He was a member of Bangladesh Liberation Force (BLF) and specially trained in the training centre of Tandua at Deradun, India.
  3. He served as a second in command (2IC) in Shologhar Muktijudda Camp of Sreenagar Upazila in Munshiganj district during the liberation period.
  4. At present Professor Hossain is the President of Muktijhodda Kallan Fund of Sreenagar Upazila Command Council, Munshiganj, Bangladesh.

 

  1. Professor Hossain received different national awards for his outstanding contribution in research and education: Annex IV
  2. He received University Grants Commission (UGC) Award in 2005
  3. He received Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Sciences (BAAS) Award in 1993
  4. He also received Krishi Foundation Award for his outstanding achievement in education sector in 2014.
  5. Hossain received the KIB Agriculture Award in 2016.
