PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCES

  1. Project Director

I served as a project director of two research projects, one is funded by the ministry of Science and Technology and another one funded by University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) in 1998. Both projects were on to develop propagation techniques in Jackfruit through tissue culture and conventional methods. Though jackfruit is our national fruit but there is no standard propagation technique for its clonal propagation. Therefore, every year we are loosing superior germplasms of jackfruit utilizing as a timber for making furniture. Finally, I have succeeded to develop a simple and reproducible propagation technique for jackfruit known as epicotyle grafting ( seed grafting) which is also registered by the National Seed Board in the year 2001.

Recently I completed research project as a Research Director on “shelf-life and processing of egg plant, radish, cucumber, cabbage and cauliflower” for the year 2004-2005 funded by Bangladesh Council of Scientific  and Industrial Research (BCSIR) and developed some  processed products on above mentioned vegetables.

  1. Principal Investigator

I was a principal investigator of a research project entitled, “ Collection, Characterization, Conservation and Yield and Nutritive Value Evaluation of Underexploited fruits in Bangladesh” financed by BARC under Agricultural Research and Management Project of World Bank for the year 1999 to 2001. I succeeded to collect the best germplasms of six species of minor fruits from Bangladesh as well as foreign countries, which will be released soon as a variety. Besides, two protocols have been developed for processing of these minorfruits for export such as Bael powder and Aonla pickle.
