BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Joydeb Gomasta is a passionate horticulturist, researcher, and educator committed to advancing sustainable agriculture and improving crop productivity. Currently (since November 2021) serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Gazipur Agricultural University (former Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University), Bangladesh, he combines academic excellence with practical innovation to address real-world agricultural challenges.

A recipient of both the University Gold Medal and the Prime Minister Gold Medal, Mr. Gomasta graduated top of his class in both his BSc in Agriculture from Khulna University and MSc in Horticulture from Bangladesh Agricultural University. His strong academic foundation drives his research interests in horticultural crop improvement, plant growth regulation, and postharvest management.

Before entering academia, he worked as a Scientific Officer at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute for about five years from January 2017 to October 2021, and led research and extension programs that directly supported farmers through improved production technologies, training, and field-level innovations.

Mr. Gomasta has authored over 45 peer-reviewed research articles and contributed to book chapters in reputed international journals. His research focuses on tropical fruits and vegetables, stress adaptation, and sustainable production systems. He has also been actively involved in competitive research projects and contributed to the development of improved crop varieties.

In addition to research and teaching, he actively supervises graduate students and contributes to academic mentoring and curriculum development. With expertise in advanced statistical tools and a strong research vision, Mr. Joydeb Gomasta continues to work towards building resilient and sustainable horticultural systems for Bangladesh and beyond.
