The department offers a graduate program leading to an MS in Agribusiness.
The department provides students with excellent classroom instruction and hands-on research in areas such as:
- Role of agribusiness in food security and marketing, locally and globally
- Supply/value chain management for economic development and SDGs
- Impacts of price mechanisms and trade policies on agriculture
- Market and nonmarket values for business management strategies
- ICT’s role in market linkage and inclusive development
- Smallholder access, entrepreneurship in a changing market
- Climate-smart agribusiness, food security, and rural livelihoods

AGB 501 Agribusiness Management (3 cr.)
Agribusiness production systems, planning and decision making, control of production, marketing and financial activities. Problem identification and evaluation of alternative solutions in agribusiness. Economic principles, budgeting, accounting, financial statements, sustainable resource management, and business proposal development.
AGB 505 Agricultural Prices and Policy Analysis (3 cr.)
Demand and elasticity analysis, modeling demand/supply, time series, Ravallian dynamic model, family budget study, cointegration, and policy analysis for agriculture.
AGB 511 Value Chain and Inclusive Market Development (3 cr.)
Basics of supply/value chain, network design, economies of scale, optimal product availability, trade relationships, and value chain intervention for market inclusion.
AGB 513 Agricultural Commodity Trade (3 cr.)
Commodity market theory, efficiency, trade policy, cost analysis, international agencies (WTO, EU, NAFTA, ASEAN), and export/import policy.
AGB 515 Small and Medium Enterprises Development (3 cr.)
SME competitive advantage and governance, innovation, empowerment, value generation, and roles in Bangladesh’s inclusive market.
AGB 517 Marketing Management (3 cr.)
Creation of market-driven organizations, market strategy, research, product/service development, consumer profile, and distribution.
AGB 527 Climate Smart Agribusiness and Food Security (3 cr.)
Climate change, food policy, nutrition, food economics, climate/agri policy coherence, and sectoral synergies. (Prerequisite AGB 501).
AGB 531 Business Economics (3 cr.)
Market pricing, business constraints/policy, quantitative decision models, and ethics in agribusiness.
AGB 537 Agribusiness Project Appraisal (3 cr.)
Project cycle, investment analysis, cost-benefit analysis, economic evaluation, risk/uncertainty, monitoring and impact assessment.
