BSMRAU Hosts Annual Sports  Competition in Joyful Celebration.

The 14th Annual Sports Competition 2025 was held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) featuring a wide array of games throughout the day. Leading up to the event, there was a noticeable surge in enthusiasm and energy as students engaged in intense practice sessions at the university’s central sports field. The event kicked off at 9:30 AM with the hoisting of the national flag followed by the singing of the national anthem. At 10:00 AM a march-past was inspected and the torch was lit marking the official inauguration of the competition. This ceremony was attended by BSMRAU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque and Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad. The competition with the participation of university students comprised 20 events which included both track and field competitions. Among these 11 events were designated for male participants while 9 events were for female athletes who competed passionately in their respective categories. Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam chaired the event. In the afternoon, an awards ceremony was held where winners and participants were recognized. During a brief address, the Pro-Vice Chancellor emphasized that physical fitness, mental development and intellectual sharpness are all intertwined with no substitute for sports in cultivating a healthy body. He encouraged students to excel in both academics and sports offering his special congratulations to the winners and advising the runners-up to stay motivated and aim for victory in future competitions through the right education and efforts. The Treasurer also highlighted the university’s commitment to keeping students active and engaged through sports adding that the institution would continue to support any necessary initiatives to foster the students’ intellectual and personal growth. The event was attended by the Deans of various faculties, Directors, the Registrar, Provosts, faculty members, staff and students. In addition, the same day saw the annual sports and cultural competition along with an awards ceremony for the primary and high school students of BSMRAU.
