Twelve brilliant second-year undergraduate students from the environmental and natural science disciplines of Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) have been awarded the prestigious international scholarship from the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF), Japan. Among the awardees are nine female and three male students, each selected for their commitment to environmental stewardship and academic excellence. The scholarships were formally handed over today (Tuesday) at 12:00 PM in a warm and celebratory ceremony held in the Academic Council Room. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman presented the scholarship cheques to the recipients. Under this program, each student will receive BDT 38,000 annually for three years. Earlier in October, twenty other GAU students received the same honor reflecting the university’s growing global recognition. Speaking as Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman said, “It is a matter of immense pride that our students continue to earn global recognition. This scholarship is not just financial support, it strengthens their responsibility and commitment to environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable agricultural development. The continuous support NEF Japan extends to Bangladesh is a remarkable symbol of friendship and shared global environmental vision.” Representing the awardees, Nafisa Jannat Omi from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment stated, “A female student from a middle-class family, receiving the NEF scholarship is profoundly meaningful to me. I dream of pursuing higher studies in Japan and contributing to positive, sustainable change for both my country and the world.” Special guests included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M.
