Poribartan Unveils at BSMRAU with Freshers’ Reception and Award Distribution

The literary magazine launch freshers’ welcome and award distribution ceremony of ‘Poribartan’ a prominent organization dedicated to the cultivation of literary and artistic expression at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) was successfully held on February 11, 2025, at the university’s old auditorium. The event, which marked the unveiling of the ninth issue (Winter’23) of the magazine was guided by the theme, “The time has come to do something new, the time has come to change.” The organization founded in August 2017, has consistently published eight successful editions prior to this making this issue a significant milestone in its journey. The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of BSMRAU Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman as the chief guest. Other notable guests included the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque and the Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad. The ceremony was chaired by the Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam. The magazine’s ninth edition editor Md. Mamun Mridha and Executive Editor Arjuman Jahan Druti along with both new and veteran students were present. Former members of the organization also joined the event virtually. Speaking virtually, founding editor of ‘Poribartan,’ Tariqul Islam Palash reminisced about the humble beginnings of the organization which started with just seven members. He emphasized that what began as a small initiative has grown into a major platform for showcasing creativity. He added that ‘Poribartan’ is not just a name but a powerful initiative that nurtures talent and intellectual growth. The official unveiling of the ninth issue was conducted by the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer and central council members of ‘Poribartan.’ The event also saw the distribution of awards to the winners of various competitions held by the organization. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the new members of ‘Poribartan’ and highlighted the importance of personal transformation in becoming a thoughtful and humane individual. He praised ‘Poribartan’ as an effective organization and expressed confidence that BSMRAU would one day be ranked among the world’s top universities. The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged everyone to nurture a greater interest in scientific literature, including agricultural science to contribute to this vision. It is worth noting that ‘Poribartan,’ the sole literary organization of the university has since its inception not only fostered literary creation but has also been actively involved in humanitarian activities such as distributing warm clothing and organizing letter festivals. The organization has long been regarded as a powerful medium for positive societal change.
