Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) organized a farmer training and seed distribution program on the cultivation techniques and development process of its recently developed short-duration, high-yielding fine Aus rice variety, ‘GAU Dhan 4.’ The program was held on Sunday (April 5) at the university’s International Complex, organized by the GAU outreach centre. Around 40 farmers Gazipur Sadar upazila participated. The initiative aimed to connect university research with field-level farming by enabling farmers to learn and apply the cultivation practices of the newly developed variety. The training was conducted in two parts, a theoretical session and a hands-on field demonstration. Farmers were introduced to the characteristics, prospects and cultivation methods of GAU Dhan 4, followed by practical demonstrations on crop management, fertilizer application, pest and disease control and harvesting techniques. The inaugural session was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M. Moynul Haque and Treasurer Prof Dr Md Safiul Islam Afrad as special guests.
