GAU holds training on research Self-Reliance and Future Readiness

A training session on was held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) on February 24, 2025 to guide students toward success and overall excellence. Organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university, the training took place at the IQAC seminar hall starting at 9 a.m. The event aimed to enrich the agricultural system of the country and improve students’ quality of life. The day-long training focused on the necessary skillsets for navigating the changing global agricultural landscape, leadership development and achieving success at both national and international levels. The session was attended by 41 new Master of Science (MS) students and 7 PhD students enrolled for the Autumn 2024 term. Distinguished speakers included Prof. Dr. Abu Ashraf Khan, Prof. Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin Miah, Prof. Dr. Nasrin Akter Ivy and Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsanul Haque Swapon who shed light on their respective fields. The training began with a welcome speech by Director (IQAC Prof. Dr. Nasrin Akter Ivy). Following this, Prof. Dr. Abu Ashraf Khan presented a detailed session on research excellence at GAU, discussing the advantages of peer reviews, effective communication and the creative and innovative aspects of research policies. Dean (Graduate Studies) Prof. Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin Miah engaged in an enriching discussion on how strategic planning fosters academic success and builds self-reliance for future preparedness. Prof. Dr. Ivy emphasized personal development for future success highlighting key aspects such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence and skill acquisition. Dr. Md. Ahsanul Haque Swapon discussed how technology, particularly in research and productivity has opened new horizons focusing on data analysis, modeling, citation, and referencing. To make the training more interactive, each session included Q&A segments and group discussions where participants could actively contribute. The event concluded with a speech by the Vice Chancellor of GAU, Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman who attended as the Chief Guest. Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad also graced the occasion as a special guest. In his closing remarks VC stressed that the university’s primary mission is not just to enhance academic expertise but to also prepare students for a prosperous future through research, creativity, and technology. He also emphasized that the innovations and new ideas emerging from research will broaden the scope of education and contribute significantly to the agricultural sector. The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted that GAU’s research excellence is making a valuable contribution to global agricultural technology and innovation.
