IAAS Bangladesh 5th National Congress 2025 Held at GAU

The International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) Bangladesh successfully hosted the 5th IAAS Bangladesh National Congress (NaCo) 2025 at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) on 19 December 2025, under the theme “Advancing Agrofrontiers: Youth-Led Innovation for Climate Resilient Agriculture and Technology Transfer.” The inaugural session, held at 10 AM at GAU’s Old Auditorium with support from the IAAS GAU Chapter, was graced by Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of GAU, as Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, Treasurer of GAU, delivered the keynote address, while the session was presided over by Md. Israfil Hossain, National Director of IAAS Bangladesh. Special guests included Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, Proctor and Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan, Director (Student Welfare). The congress brought together graduate and postgraduate representatives from 11 universities across the country. Proceedings began with a tribute to July martyr Osman Bin Hadi, followed by a documentary highlighting GAU’s academic legacy. Speakers underscored climate change challenges, the role of modern agricultural technologies and the importance of youth leadership in sustainable agriculture. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized innovation, research and field-level application as key to sustainable agricultural development. The session concluded with the announcement of the new IAAS committee, appointing Toufiqul Islam as Local Director of IAAS GAU and the presentation of commemorative gifts to the dignitaries. The congress also featured a case-based competitive session on agricultural innovation while participants are set to visit BRRI and BARI the following day. Founded in 1957, IAAS is active in over 50 countries and operates across 17+ agricultural and life science universities in Bangladesh, continuing its mission to empower youth for a sustainable agricultural future.
